Colissimo & the context
Colissimo is La Poste's parcel delivery offer for individuals and professionals, relying on a national network of industrial sorting facilities. Amid strong volume growth and heightened performance requirements, La Poste is modernising its critical sorting processes.
Faced with the proliferation of servers across different sites and a lack of visibility over technical logs, Colissimo's Technical Department asked Steamulo to set up a log centralisation solution for all OPB systems (Outils de Pilotage Banalisé).
Objectives & approach
A dedicated team (a project director and three DevOps) designed, developed, deployed and industrialised the solution to:
- Centralise logs from the OPB solutions (main, mobile, centralised and future)
- Process varied formats (flat files, JSON, relational and NoSQL databases)
- Store logs with a 3-month retention on the proprietary infrastructure
- Enable consultation, grouping and filtering by application, module or site
- Feed the supervision tools and ease the low-cost integration of future systems
Results
The Technical Department now has full, fast and reliable visibility over all its technical logs:
- Enhanced supervision of production environments
- Reduced diagnosis and investigation times
- Standardised log processing and archiving
- A modular architecture ensuring future evolutions
- Secured storage and compliance with retention policies
