Redesign, maintenance and hosting of the USH portal

The goal was to create a powerful and memorable user experience, requiring a design phase focused on an innovative and impactful approach.

The diversity of users — USH staff, member organisations, sector professionals and public authorities — required deep design work to address each context of use and the specific challenges of the content being communicated.

Context

To improve navigation quality, STEAMULO acted as a full-service partner, covering all required deliverables:

  • Functional design through co-creation workshops with USH
  • Detailed technical specifications
  • Responsive Design integration of graphic mockups
  • Iterative development using 2-week sprints
  • Support through testing and acceptance phases
  • SEO best practices implementation
  • Infrastructure hosting on a sovereign French cloud provider
  • Corrective and evolutionary maintenance

Content and search engine challenges

One of the site's key features is its volume of contributions (regulatory, news, documentary…) and therefore the challenge of a search engine that surfaces the right document for a given query.

USH has extensive editorial content (hence the original choice of Drupal as CMS), with expanding services: member area, professional space, topic subscriptions, content personalisation. The search engine must deliver relevance by weighing document age, keyword presence in fields and file content, document type, and manual weighting by administrators.
